What do kisses and outdoor boilers have to do with each other? Glad you asked!

Questions:

1. Do you have an uninsulated chimney extension?  

2. Is your outdoor boiler too small and therefore unable to keep up with your Heating needs? Does the temperature of your outdoor boiler drop below 140° often during heating cycles and does the boiler have a hard time keeping up?

3. Do you keep the level of ash in the bottom of your boiler less than 4 inches deep and remove all of the ash Weekly? And do you follow the “Dry Burn“ method?

4. Do you follow proper water treatment procedures? (Add water treatment  every year, submit water sample for FREE annual testing, perform the “Sediment Flush” annually and the “Complete Flush” every four years)

5. Do you have a Fill Kit installed?

Here is how to calculate the expected life remaining on your outdoor boiler based on these questions:

1. If your answer to question #1 is “yes“, then you can expect your outdoor boiler to fail in six months. Never use an uninsulated chimney extension. Read more HERE.

2. If your answer to question #2 is “yes”, then you can expect your outdoor boiler to fail in less than 18 months. Outdoor boilers must operate within design specifications and should never be operated at temperatures below 140°.

3. if you answered “NO”, then you are not following proper maintenance procedures. You can expect your outdoor boiler to fail before it reaches 5 to 10 years of total useful life.

4. If your answer to question #1 is 'NO,' then expect your boiler won’t last long, depending on the thickness of the steel used in your boiler and the fact that you’re not following proper maintenance procedures. Read more HERE.

5. If you don’t have a Fill Kit installed and you have to haul buckets or hoses to your outdoor boiler all winter to keep it full of water, chances are that your water level is too often low. This damages your boiler steel and causes catastrophic failures.
